| José, seventy years old, fisherman. He sailed his ship across the seas, fishing and struggling for his survival throughout America and England. The only audible sound he produces, when he attempts to speak, is a sort of a whistle coming from the air-pipe he has got on his throat to breathe. He had three operations. He spends his days wandering along the quayside waiting for the fourth operation. He feels lonely and curses the sea for having stolen his health. |
